We cut six individual layers of premium plywood on Dusty Rose, our CO2 laser, right here in our Arizona studio. The background is a mosaic of horizontal wood slats. We hand-stain each one in a different earthy tone — five total — and they layer together like the last light hitting open land. The highland cow sits in front of it all. We carve delicate mandala engravings directly into her maple layers. Up close, it looks like lace. From across the room, she owns the wall.

We use premium plywood. All six layers. No MDF, no shortcuts, no compromises. We hand-stain each layer before we stack and assemble everything by hand. The grain shifts a little differently from piece to piece. The stain settles in its own way. That’s not a flaw — that’s what makes it yours.
We cut the mandala engravings at the same laser pass as the shaping. Same session. Same precision. The detail is crisp and permanent. It’s not going anywhere.
📐 Layered Highland Cow Wall Art – Size & Display
This piece runs approximately 18.5″ wide × 10″ tall. It anchors a gallery wall. It sits beautifully above a mantel. It works in a farmhouse kitchen, a living room, or a nursery with personality.
One option to choose: closed back or open back.
- Closed back — we keep the solid middle panel in. Clean. Finished. Nothing shows through. Great when you love your wall color and want to keep it hidden.
- Open back — we remove the middle panel. The slats float in front of your wall. Your wall color or texture shows through and becomes part of the piece. Incredible against shiplap, brick, or a bold painted wall.
We laser-cut the hanging slots directly into the wood frame. No added hardware. Two nails in your wall, slide it on, level it up. Done.
No personalization on this one. The design speaks for itself.
We check every piece before it leaves. It does not leave our studio if it’s not something we’d be proud to give to our own parents.

- Wood: Premium plywood — 6 layers total. Light, tight-grained, beautiful under stain. We reach for it on detailed pieces because it holds edge definition and takes color without mudding.
- Premium plywood, not MDF. Wood core plywood is lighter than MDF, stronger, and cuts cleaner on the laser. The maple face gives us the grain and stain response we want. We won’t use anything else.
- Background slats: We cut individual horizontal pieces and hand-stain each one in a different earthy tone. Five tones total. We place every slat by hand when we assemble.
