Mount Rushmore, Recreated in Wood
The Mount Rushmore wood ornament brings the commanding view of South Dakota’s Black Hills down to a size you can hold. Four presidential faces rise above the mountain, complete with the expressions, shadows, and profiles that make this landmark instantly recognizable.
It is history carved in stone, then interpreted in wood.
Four Faces, Four American Chapters
Washington represents the nation’s founding. Jefferson reflects expansion and possibility. Roosevelt speaks to growth and preservation, while Lincoln stands for unity through America’s greatest test. Together, their portraits offer a look at leadership across moments in the country’s story.
Careful laser engraving shapes each brow, cheek, and stone-like contour. Layered maple and cherry plywood creates contrast, allowing light and shadow to reveal details from every angle.

About This Mount Rushmore Wood Ornament
Part of the USA 250th Anniversary Collection — twelve designs marking twelve pieces of American history — this one is made for the person who appreciates what it took to build this country, literally and otherwise. Hangs on a brown cord. No assembly, no extras. Made in our Arizona studio, made to order.
Before it leaves my studio, I inspect the alignment, finish, edges, and overall appearance. My standard is simple: if it’s not something I’d proudly give to my own parents, it doesn’t leave my studio.
- Material: Premium Cherry Plywood (back) | Premium Maple Plywood (front)
- Size: Approx. 3.5″ x 3.8″
- Finish: Natural — no stain or additional clear coat
- Cord: Brown cord included
- Personalization: None
- Production Time: 7–10 business days
Every piece in the USA 250th Anniversary Collection is built to last — here’s exactly what goes into this one:
- Back layer: Premium cherry plywood — rich, warm grain with a naturally darker tone that grounds the whole piece
- Front layer: Premium maple plywood — laser-cut into the shape of the Mount Rushmore, lighter in color, so the engraving detail reads clearly against the cherry behind it
- Construction: Two layers assembled to create visual depth — the flag stripe cut-throughs in the cherry back let the maple Bell sit forward and catch the light differently from every angle
- Engraving: “United States of America” arched across the top, “250 Years of Freedom” across the bottom, and stars laser-cut around the border — all done with precision on Dusty Rose, our CO2 laser in our Arizona studio
- Finish: Natural only — no stain, no dye. Both layers arrive with a pre-applied clear finish from the supplier; Terrie does not add stain or an additional clear coat on this design
- Cord: Brown cord included — already attached and ready to hang
- Personalization: None available on this design — it’s made as a standalone keepsake
- Dimensions: Approx. 3.5″ x 3.8″
This one travels well — it’s ended up in teacher’s lounges, veteran’s homes, history classrooms, and on Christmas trees from Arizona to the East Coast. Here’s who tends to love it:
- History buffs and presidential trivia people — the kind of person who can name the order the presidents were carved and will absolutely tell you about it
- Veterans and active military — four commanders in chief, 250 years of what they served; this one lands differently for them
- American history teachers — especially this year; a semiquincentennial classroom deserves a piece on the desk
- The patriot who has everything — ornament, desk piece, shelf display — it works as all three
- Gift bundles — pair it with a personalized patriotic tumbler or keychain for a complete USA 250th gift set
- USA 250th Anniversary Collection fans — one of twelve designs; some buyers are picking up several to display together or give as a set
- Travelers and national park enthusiasts — for the person who has been to the real thing and wants to bring a piece of it home
