    Moon Landing Ornament

In 1969 an American astronaut planted a flag on the moon. In 2026 America turns 250. Both of those things are worth remembering, and this ornament puts them together. The Moon Landing ornament shows an astronaut standing on the lunar surface next to the American flag, framed in the same circle design as the rest of the USA 250th Anniversary Collection — "United States of America" arched at the top, "250 Years of Freedom" along the bottom.

The detail on the astronaut suit and the flag comes through clean in the laser engraving against the maple face. The flag stripes and background stars cut through to the warm cherry backing. It is a celebration of what America built — and what it planted a flag on — over 250 years.

    The BuildThe Build

Every ornament in the USA 250th Anniversary Collection is laser-cut right here in our Arizona studio on Dusty Rose, our CO2 laser. We use 1/8" premium plywood with a maple face and a cherry back — two layers working together so the laser-cut design on the front reveals the warm cherry layer underneath through every cutout. That contrast between the lighter maple face and the darker cherry backing is what gives these ornaments their depth and dimension. No paint. No stain. Just two layers of real wood and a laser doing precise work.

Each piece is cut flat and clean — no burning on the edges, no rough cuts, no warping. The clear coat is applied by the manufacturer before we ever touch the wood, so the natural grain comes through protected and ready to last. A brown leather cord is threaded through the hanging hole and included with every ornament. The Cactus Air Designs name is engraved on the cherry back so you always know where it came from.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add a name or date to this ornament?

No — these ornaments are a fixed design with no personalization available. What you see is what you get, and it is already pretty great.

What is the ornament made of?

1/8" premium plywood with a maple face and a cherry back. The laser cuts through the maple front layer and the cherry layer shows through the cutouts — that warm contrast you see in the photos is two layers of real wood, not a stain or finish.

Does it come with a way to hang it?

Yes — a brown leather cord is included and already threaded through the hanging hole. It is ready to hang the moment it arrives.

Is this only for Christmas trees?

Not at all — these are patriotic Americana keepsakes. Hang them on a tree in December, on a wreath for Fourth of July, on a display hook year-round, or anywhere you want a reminder that America just turned 250.

    How big is it?

Approximately 3.5" wide — about the size of a large cookie. Big enough to see the detail clearly, small enough to hang anywhere.
