About the Collection
What are these candle holders made from?
Every candle holder in this collection is laser cut from premium Baltic birch plywood right here in our Arizona studio. Each piece is stained by hand using our Arizona-inspired stain palette and finished to bring out the natural warmth of the wood. No paint, no vinyl — just real wood, real stain, and clean laser-cut detail.
How many designs are available?
There are 16 designs in the Woodland Wildlife collection — Bear, Fox, Cardinal, Moose, Stag, Owl, Raccoon, Rabbit, Sparrow, Chipmunk, Badger, Fawn, Raven, Skunk, Weasel, and Mouse. Each one features a unique wildlife silhouette on the front panel with a matching engraved tray on top.
Are these personalized?
No. These are fixed designs — the stain color and wildlife silhouette are set per listing. What you see is what you get, and that is by design. The consistency is part of what makes them work as a set or as individual pieces.
Can I buy them as a set?
Each design is sold individually. If you are looking to build a collection, pick your favorites and mix and match — they are designed to work together on a shelf or mantel.
The Candle
What type of candle does this hold?
These holders are designed for pillar candles. The top of each holder features a raised ring platform that holds a standard pillar candle in place. We recommend a pillar candle that fits snugly in the ring for the best look and safest use.
Does a candle come with it?
No. The candle is not included. We recommend using a battery-operated flameless pillar candle for safety and to protect the wood finish long-term. If you use a real flame candle, never leave it unattended.
Can I use a tealight or votive instead?
These holders are designed for pillar candles specifically. A tealight or votive will not sit securely in the raised ring platform and is not recommended.
Is it safe to use a real flame candle?
We recommend flameless battery-operated candles. If you choose to use a real flame candle, use appropriate candle safety practices — never leave it unattended, keep it away from flammable materials, and do not allow the flame to get close to the wood. We are not responsible for damage resulting from improper candle use.
About the Wood and Finish
Will my candle holder look exactly like the photo?
Close, but not identical. Baltic birch plywood is a natural material — grain patterns, subtle color shifts, and natural character marks vary from piece to piece. We also photograph in natural Arizona light, so your screen may read the stain color slightly differently than it appears in person. That natural variation is part of what makes each piece handcrafted rather than mass produced.
What stain colors are used?
Each design uses stain colors from our Arizona-inspired palette. The stain used per design is noted on the individual product listing. Our palette includes names like Desert Walnut, Red Rock, Midnight Mesa, Sonoran Ember, and more — all chosen to complement the natural warmth of the wood.
Are there knots or imperfections in the wood?
There can be minor natural character in the wood — slight grain variation, minor color shifts. We carefully inspect every piece before it ships and will never send anything with a structural defect or a flaw that affects the design. Natural wood character is not a defect.
Care and Display
How do I care for my candle holder?
Dust with a soft dry cloth. No water, no cleaning sprays, no chemicals. These are indoor pieces made for climate-controlled spaces. Keep them out of direct moisture, bathroom steam, and prolonged direct sunlight which can fade the stain over time.
Can I use these outdoors?
No. Wood and outdoor conditions do not mix well. Keep them inside and they will look great for years.
Can I put these in the bathroom?
We do not recommend it. Steam and humidity will affect the wood and finish over time.
Gifting
Are these good gifts?
Yes. They are a solid size, they ship in protective packaging, and a wildlife candle holder is the kind of gift that works for almost anyone who loves nature, rustic decor, or handcrafted pieces. If you want to add a gift message, leave a note on the product page and we will include it with your order.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
We do not offer gift wrapping at this time. Every order ships in protective packaging to make sure it arrives safely.
Ordering and Shipping
How long does it take to ship?
Most orders ship within 5 to 7 business days. You will receive a shipping notification with tracking once your order is on its way.
What if my candle holder arrives damaged?
Email terrie@cactusairdesigns.com within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos of the damaged piece and the packaging it arrived in. We will file a carrier claim on your behalf. Claims cannot be processed without photo documentation or after the 48-hour window has passed.
Can I return or exchange my candle holder?
All sales are final. These are made-to-order handcrafted pieces. If there is a defect or damage on our end, we will make it right. We do not accept returns for buyer's remorse or preference changes.
